Zonification

The Tavolara – Punta Coda Cavallo Protected Marine Area was established through Law 979 of 1992, Law 394 in 1991, decree from the Ministry for the Environment on 12 December 1997 and additional amendments. The management of the area is entrusted to a consortium of three municipalities: Olbia, Loiri – Porto San Paolo and San Teodoro. The area is 15,000 hectares large and is divided into three zones, each with different protection levels.
