CRIMM

The CriMM, or Center for Research on Marine Mammals, is a non-profit organization based in Porto San Paolo that collaborates with the Tavolara – Punta Coda Cavallo Protected Marine Area. The center performs research on marine mammals and runs programs and initiatives to inform the general public of these themes, with the goal of providing adequate protection to these animals.

Activities of the Center include:

  • Scientific research that, along with collected data, helps formulate conservation and identifies particularly sensitive areas;
  • Immediate response for marine mammals and turtles that are experiencing difficulty, both in the water or washed ashore, in collaboration with the First Aid Center of the Protected Marine Area;
  • Increasing public awareness, with particular attention towards children, through numerous informational and communication initiatives;
  • Ecotourism, including whale and dolphin watching excursions, in collaboration with the Protected Marine Area.
