One of the main missions of the Protected Marine Area, besides protection and proper territorial management, is to inform and educate people, eventually improving environmental awareness.

The educational purpose of the Tavolara Protected Marine Area is to promote reflection on the relationship between Man and Nature, so that we can rediscover bonds with the earth that houses us and share the values behind the activities of the Protected Area.
Our programs begin with a living experience in the Marine Area territory, a “sea and sun laboratory” that is best studied through creative means, including the use of games and scavenger hunts to stimulate fantasy and hands-on involvement.
Program leaders work as facilitators, assisting participants in the processing of their consciousness and self-education with the goal of increasing communal knowledge.
The activities are divided into smaller projects that take place over similar time frame, using various routes created since 2005.
There are seven routes created to visit some of the most significant environments of the Protected Area and to learn about ongoing monitoring and research activities.
